2010 Pack 936 Popcorn Sale

!!! It’s Popcorn Time !!!

It is that fundraising time of year again. Scouts have the opportunity to sell popcorn as their main fundraiser each year. This is a great way to cover your Scout’s yearly fair share fee of $100.00.

To cover the fair share fees, scouts need to sell $304 of popcorn. Approximately 33% of every dollar is profit. The money earned supports the pack in conducting amazing activities for the scouts all year. Some of those activities are the fall and spring family camps, Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold, Graduation, pack awards and Pack operating expenses. Once your scout’s “Fair Share” is covered, the additional profit (33% of every dollar over $304) from your scout’s popcorn sales goes into his “scout dollar” account. Scouts can use their “scout dollars” to offset their costs for any scouting event or scouting related purchases – for example, spring and fall family camp, Blue and Gold and Summer Day Camp. Imagine having the funds available instead of pulling out the checkbook!

Scouts will have the opportunity to sell popcorn in several ways. The old fashioned “Door to Door” or to family and friends, which scouting calls “Take Orders” is the first way. The second way is through Pack scheduled “Show and Sells”. A calendar of all the scheduled Show and Sell dates is attached. You may sign your scout for as many dates and times as you want. “Show and sell” registrations are made on a first-come, first-serve basis. A responsible adult must be present for your child at each event. The total money earned at all the Show-and sells is divided among the participants based on the number of hours worked. A third way to sell is for your den to do a “Show and Deliver”. This is when you choose an area or location, such as a neighborhood that you know well, and pull a wagon around selling popcorn. The proceeds are divided amongst the participating den members. Online sales (via www.campmasters.org) is a great way to reach out to family and friends who live further away.

Attached you will find more information regarding the popcorn sale and important dates. Please feel free to contact one of us if you have questions or concerns about Popcorn sales.

Good luck selling!

Pack 936 Abingdon, Maryalnd. Welcome to our web-site!
Cub Scout Pack 936 is located in Abingdon Maryland in the central part of Harford county.

Our Cub Scout program is part of the larger national organization of the Boy Scouts of America. The Pack leaders and parents of our pack are committed to providing a quality, family oriented , year-round program of Cub Scouting activities.

Our Pack was started in the early 1990's and has been serving the youth of our community for over 11 years. Our Pack is comprised of first grade through fifth grade boys. We have a diverse set of boys, from a variety of local public and private schools (Abingdon Elementary, Emmorton Elementary, Ring Factory Elementary, Trinity Lutheran, Mountain Christian, St. Paul’s Lutheran in Kingsville and home schooled boys as well).

Boys in the surrounding area; completing kindergarten or in 1st through 5th grade are welcome to join.

We are an active, caring group of families, dedicated to helping our sons grow in character, citizenship and faith. We firmly believe in the Scouting spirit, and the ideals of "fun with a purpose." You will find us not just at Pack or Den meetings, but on outings that promote the core values of Scouting; projects that serve our community; and activities that promote awareness of our responsibility and appreciation of the world around us.

Our hope is that each of our Scouts will continue to advance in the Scouting program not because of the badge of rank they may earn, but because of what they may learn about themselves, their families, others, God, and their country.

Our Pack meets the 4th Thursday of each month at New Covenant Presbyterian Church located at 128 St. Mary's Church Road Abingdon, Maryland.
